I know it may seem limiting at first if you are interested in using a ketogenic diet for fat loss and you are also vegetarian. But there are more options than you might think. The important thing is to focus on high-quality fat, plant-based protein and low-carb fibre.

As an example, I'll go through some keto-friendly foods below.

Keto-Friendly Vegetarian Foods

  • Fat: Butter, coconut oil, olive oil, avocado oil and cheese.

  • Protein: Eggs, tofu, tempeh (and fish if you pescetarian)

  • Fibre: Broccoli, cauliflower, spinach and cabbage.

  • Seasoning: Black pepper, mustard, full-fat mayonnaise, soy sauce, rosemary, thyme, sage, oregano.

Some Keto Friendly Vegetarian Meal Ideas Are:

  • cheese and broccoli omelette cooked in butter with avocado slices

  • Tofu cabbage and cauliflower stirfry with soy sauce

  • Oven-roast tempeh marinated in rosemary and thyme. Pair it with spinach sautéed in olive oil.

If you follow these examples you'll find loads of meals you can enjoy by mixing and matching. This also means you will get the benefits of being in ketosis, which reduces your appetite and helps you eat less at your meals. Happy cooking!
